SECONDARY EX-PUPILS
FAREWELL TO PRESIDENT Opportunity was taken by members of the Committee of the Geraldine Secondary E-Pupils’ Association, at a small social gathering on Saturday evening, to bid farewell to their president, Mr D. J. Lack, who is leaving Geraldine to-day to take up a position in Dunedin. Mr H. W. W. Willimson, who presided, recalled Mr Lack's long association with the organisation, during which he had served in different capacities, and made Mr Lack the presentation of a smoker’s set which carried the best wishes of the members of the Association. In acknowledging the wishes and gift. Mr Lack expressed regret at leaving Geraldine, where he had spent happy times with the members of the Association during the last 14 years. He hoped the Association would prosper. and that it would serve a useful purpose in the community. The health of Mr Lack was drunk with musical honours. Mr John Scott, jun.. was elected president in Mr Lack’s place. Rev. Canon J. F. Coursey, patron of the Association, gave a short talk entitled “An ex-pupils’ association and its functions,” Mr Coursey emphasised that an ex-pupils’ association should form a very real link between former pupils and their school, and lie offered a number of suggestions which would achieve this purpose. There was a need for such an organisation in Geraldine, and he hoped that the committee’s endeavours to revive interest in the local accociation would meet with the success they deserved. In addition to the loyal toast., the following toasts were honoured during the evening: "The Geraldine Secondary Ex-Pupils’ Association,” “The School,” “The Ladies,” “The Patron,’ “The Chairman,” and “The Press.”
