WAIMATE ASSOCIATION Suggested amendments to the constitution of the Waimate Basketball Association were drawn up at a meeting of the committee on Monday evening and will be placed before a general meeting at an early date for confirmation. There were present: Misses J. Elliott (chair), B. Stewart, A. K. Malthus, N. Chalmers, D. Grylls, N. Price, T. Ryder, and W. Hannafin. It was decided to write to the Temuka Sub-Association asking whether it would be possible for a Temuka v. Waimate representative match to be played at Waimate on July 25. 4 The St. Patrick’s Club were granted permission to play a friendly game against St. Joseph's (Temuka) at Temuka, on Saturday. A statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the annual dance on June 3 was presented, and showed a profit of approximately £4/10/-. Six Waimate players will be tried for selection for the South Canterbury representative team. They are D. Grylls, A. Malthus, M. McNeill, N. Price, M. Dennison and J. Fraser. Dorothy Grylls is a forward in the Waimate team. Her play has been outstanding in all matches. She is especialy good at long distance shots at goal. Anna Malthus (Waimate), and Molly McNeill (Hunter), both centre players, are very quick and accurate, not only in passing, but in intercepting. Nancy Price (Waimate), is an excellent defence player, being keen on attack and always on the spot at the right moment. May Dennison and Joan Fraser, both young players in the High School A team, show great speed on the court.
