In the belief that the depression is passing and the outlook is brighter with the repeal of the United States prohibition, the champagne controllers carried out a stocktaking and revealed that more than 100,000,000 bottles are in stock, equivalent to the world’s normal consumption for five years. In addition, the cellars contain sufficient to fill another 48,000,000 bottles. The cheapening of the home price which is now between 2/6 and 12/6 a bottle, according to quality, is causing a steady Increase in consumption.
