HANDSOME GIFT FROM JOHORE United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 2, 7.50 p.m.) SINGAPORE, May 2. The sum of £500,000 has been voted by the Johore State Council for the acceleration of the Singapore defences. This jubilee gift is from the richest state in Malaya, which is expected soon to be included in the new defence works.
