RIDING ACCIDENT
MR W. BROMLEY HAS NARROW ESCAPE By Telegraphy—Press Association GREYMOUTH, May 1. Mr Walter Bromley, deputy chairman of the Unemployment Board, narrowly escaped serious Injury this afternoon when riding on a mountainside in a rainstorm along a dangerous track to inspect quartz miners prospecting in the vicinity of Blackball. His horse put a leg through a culvert, and Mr Bromley was imprisoned under the animal for five minutes before he could be released. He was not injured as the horse remained quiet. The party, including Mr P. C. Webb, MJP„ continued the journey on foot, inspecting the Minerva Crossing and Garden Gully mines, both of which formerly were worked. A favourable impression was gained regarding the prospectors’ work and a realisation -.f the need to improve the means of access. The party returned to Greymouth to-night.
