MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 1. Commenting on the attitude of the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board regarding the restoration of the first 10 per cent, cut, the Hon. Sir Alexander Young said there was no power to prevent the boards from restoring the cuts, but if the cuts were reclored over thj amount of the Government’s wage restoration scale, the extra cost would have to be borne by the ratepayers and not be reflected in the Government subsidy to the boards.
