SPECTACULAR BLAZE
SAWMILL DESTROYED B.v Telegraph—Press Association TAUMARUNUI, March 23. A blaze which was seen for miles round, last night destroyed the Taringamotu Totara Sawmill Coy’s mill at Taringamotu, near Taumarunui. The planing mill, breaking down mill, and other buildings were destroyed. The mill was one of the most up-to-date in the district, and the damage runs into thousands of pounds. One hundred men are rendered idle by the blaze. The fire started in the planing shed about 8 o’clock, and within half an hour In”'' ot from end to end of the mill. The fire-fighting appliances were burned before they could be removed from the planing shed. Numerous mill houses and thousands of feet of stacked timber, which surrounded the mill, were saved by a favourable breeze.
