TAKINGS STOLEN

THIEF BLOWS SAFE IN PICTURE THEATRE

By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 11

During Saturday night an entrance was effected to the office of the Princess Theatre. The safe was blown open and cash amounting to a considerable sum, including Saturday night’s takings, was stolen. The intruder must have climbed up a pipe on the side of the building and then gained access through a fanlight above the dress circle. He must have performed a feat of acrobatics in reaching a metal truss six or seven feet below the fanlight. Thence he dropped into the dress circle. He had to scale a 12 feet partition to get into the office, the door of which was locked. After opening the safe and removing the contents, he dropped into the stalls and escaped by climbing over the ticket box in the lobby.
