LOSS BY FIRE
BIG FOUNDRY SERIOUSLY DAMAGED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 10, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 10. A disastrous fire yesterday destroyed the pattern shop at Thompson’s large foundry at Castlemaine. Two hundred firemen had a difficult task saving other portions of the foundry, and while the fire was at its height, three prisoners in a local reformatory scaled the high walls, slid down the drain pipe and escaped.
