CHRISTMAS PARTY

PUPILS OF MRS E. A. WIIITEHOUSE On Saturday evening at her studio, Wai-iti Road, Mrs E. A. Whitehouse, L.T.C.L., held a very enjoyable Christmas party for her pupils, whose performances were greatly appreciated by those present. Mrs Whitehouse, who wore a rose-coloured satin frock, was the recipient of several bouquets and dainty gifts from her pupils and friends. After supper, the prizes won during the year were presented as follows: Advanced Students. Miss Dorothy Tuck and Mrs G. T. Keen. Sightreading, D. Johnston. Junior Students, Master Colin Williamson. Miss Brenda Chappie. Master Geoffrey Newlands, and Miss Isa Keen (sight reading), special prizes. Miss Jean Heads, first piano solo under 18 years, Timaru competitions 1933-34, Miss Joyce Keay; highest marks Trinity College exams., junior 1933, intermediate 1934; also winner pianoforte solo under 14 years, Timaru Competitions. Misses N. Gabites and J. Heads, winners of pianoforte duet under 18 years. Master D. Newlands, winner pianoforte solo under 12 years.

Keen; solo, “In a Monastery Garden,” Miss Nancy Gabites; duet, “Overture to William Tell,” Miss Dorothy Tuck and Mrs Whitehouse; solo, “Ire. Valse,” Master D. Newlands; duet, “Rhapsody,” No. 6 Liszt, Mrs G. T. Before the close of the evening Mrs Whitehouse played “Rigoletto” (Liszt), “Etude” (Chopin). “Sonata Pathetique, Ist Movement” (Beethoven).
