GENERAL NEWS
An old boy of the Temuka District High School, Mr W. E. Lewis, of Hamilton, has recently gained an honour that is rare in New Zealand, that of being admitted a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A son of Mr and ’Mrs J. W. Lewis, who were residents of Temuka for some years, he received his secondary school and university education in England, and has had a distinguished career. At present he is art master at the Hamilton Technical High School. With the rain and the warm weather experienced lately, the grass along the streets of the borough has grown considerably and the Council’s staff will have the mower out very shortly. Under the auspices of the Temuka branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, a meeting at which Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P., will give an address entitled "The Government’s Policy of Hopelessness and Despair,” will be held in the Druids’ Hall at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
