TRAGEDY AT STUDHOLME

BOY’S BODY FOUND IN CREEK Alvin Flynn, 14 years of age, employed by his father, Mr Jeremiah Flynn, of Studholme Junction, as assistant in a training stable, was found dead in a hole in a creek about 440 yards from his home last evening. It appears that the lad had been missing since Saturday, October 13. On that day the father attended the South Canterbury Jockey Club's races at Timaru and, his mother being in hospital, the lad was left in charge of the younger children at home. The father states that on his return from Timaru, one of the horses was running loose with a bridle on and no trace of his son could be found. His inquiries regarding the boy’s whereabouts were fruitless, and several searches in the creeks and waterholes nearby were also without result until he came upon his son’s body at 7.30 last evening. An inquest will be held at Waimate.
