SEVEN INJURED IN RESEARCH LABORATORIES. United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyright (Received May 23, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 23. Five men and two women were injured this afternoon by a violent explosion, when the boiler burst in the research laboratories in the city. Many windows were broken and buildings shaken. The explosion occurred in the basement during a demonstration of dry cleaning. About eight persons were present. All were thrown down, the lights were extinguished, and the room was filled with suffocating fumes. The women screamed hysterically and the men groped through the darkness calling for help. The fire brigade, which was soon on the scene rendered first aid with oxygen respirators. The women recovered, but three men were sent to hospital suffering from injuries to the face and eyes. The main sufferer was Henry Drake (36), a chemist, who sustained a broken leg while hurriedly escaping.
