RUGBY BROADCASTS

AN OFFER DECLINED. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, April 25. The Canterbury Rugby Union decided a fortnight ago that an offer be made to the Broadcasting Board of permission to broadcast a report of one match on alternate Saturdays. A letter was received at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Union on Tuesday from Mr E. C. Hands, general manager for the' Broadcasting Board, declining the offer on the ground that broadcasting on alternate Saturdays would not give a satisfactory service to the public. The Board also objected ;o the Union’s stipulation that a representative of the Union should be allowed to broadcast from 3YA on Friday evenings concernmatches on the following day.
