The local Swarajists, who hitherto opposed a civic welcome to the M.C.C. cricket team, have now decided to accord this honour, thus indicating that the Hindus realise the futility of mixing cricket with politics. Pataudi and Duleepsinhji, have declined to play for India instead of England, now the former has reached test status, these tw r o fine cricketers are apparently lost to the game. HAWKE CUP MATCH. By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI, December 7. The Hawke Cup elimination match commenced at Marton yesterday, between Rangitikei and Wanganui, and was continued to-day. Wanganui made 234 (Harding 88, Sew r ell 37, Low 5 for 28) and 198 (Harding 80. Duncan 5 for 54), while Rangitikei made 177 (Wysocki 65, Cameron 44, Oliver 5 for 58 and in their second innings have lost three wickets for 60 (Cameron 39). TOWN V. COUNTRY.
