TIMARU CROQUET CLUB. The Timaru Croquet Club was fortunate in having beautiful weather for its opening on Thursday. The president, Mrs H. Hall, welcomed the large gathering of croquet enthusiasts, Including representatives of all other clubs, and other interested visitors, among whom were two of the club's earliest members, Mrs Little and Mrs Smithson, the latter being a foundation member. After afternoon tea, Mrs Oxford, Vice-president, asked Mrs M. Raymond to present the prizes. Having done so, Mrs Raymond introduced Mrs Smithson, who she said was still keenly interested ip croquet. Mrs Smithson returned thanks for the welcome, saying she intended to play again. The prizes for the competitions were won by the following: Golf croquet. Mrs Adkins 1, Mrs Turnbull 2; Aunt Sally, Mrs Johnston 1; the clock, Mrs Curr 1; putting, Mrs Low 1. Among the many present were:— Mesdames Little, H. Thomson, Nottingham (Christchurch), Raymond, W. Taylor, Blue, Salomon, Panton, James, Darroch, Curr. McAulay, Davey, Davidson, Wilson, Martin, Mason, Allchurch, Richards, Holden, Glendale. Blair, Davies, Clark, Heron, Gilliat, Cunningham, McFarlane, Foote, Edyvean, Jowsey, Becket, Bryce, Cornwall, Adkins, Turnbull, Patchett, Norrie, S. Taylor, G. Bowker, Bowler, Wright, A. A.
