GERALDINE

THE WEATHER. There was bright sunshine on Saturday, but conditions were dull and overcast yesterday morning, with a thick mist hanging over the foothills. RUGBY TOURNEY. A meeting of the combined Rugby Tournament Committee, comprising representatives of the Geraldine Sports’ Association and the Geraldine Football Club, held on Friday evening, was attended by Messrs W. H. Jackson (in the chair), J. Mcllroy, J. R. Lack, R. Hayes, F. Timms, J. Kennedy, J. Barrett, B. Stringer, H. J. Bowkett and T. J. Paterson. Officials for the forthcoming seven-a-side tournament were appointed as follows: —Timekepers, Messrs J. Mcllroy (chief), J. Lack, T. Twigg, and F. E. South; controllers: No. 1 ground, Mr W. Hamilton, No. 2 ground, Mr Z. Sherratt; team stewards, No. 1, Mr G. Watts, No. 2, Mr J. Lorimer; surgeons, Drs P. W. Hislop and L. C. Mail; blackboard stewards, Messrs B. Hayes and C. C. Knight; Judicial committee, Messrs J. Kennedy, W. H. Jackson, J. R. Lack and W. Sherratt. It was left to Mr F. Timms to arrange for line umpires. Arrangements for the programme and the draw were left in the hands of Messrs T. J. Paterson and J. S. Lorimer.

On the motion of Messrs Lack and Bowkett, it was decided that miniature cups be procured as trophies. Messrs Jackson and Lack were appoined to make arrangements for the closing of the shops from noon till 5 pan.
