GERALDINE FLAT
TENNIS CLUB'S BALL. On Tuesday evening, the Geraldine Flat Tennis Club held a plain and fancy dress ball in the Victoria Hall, Winchester. The ballroom was decorated with multi-coloured streamers. The music was supplied by a Temuka orchestra. Miss M. Lawlor played an extra. Messrs J. Cripps and W. Jackson were Masters of Ceremonies. The lucky spot dance was won by Miss N. Higgle and Mr S. Shaw, and the Monte Carlo by Miss M. Wilks and Mr J. C. South. The prizes for the best fancy dress, hard up and original costume were won as follows: —Mesdames T. Lewis and L. F. Wood (darkies), Miss W. E. Alexander (Early Victorian), Mrs J. C. South (Ruination), Miss E. Hay (Scarecrow) Messrs L. Beattie (Turk), J. C. South (hard-up), and H. Friend (Nigger). Mrs T. E. Shiels and Mrs M. Coffey were the judges. A competition for a dinner waggon was won by Mr Fred Martin (Temuka).
