Signature to the common peace agreement was authorised to-day by the Central Committee of the Cotton Spinners and Manufacturers' Association. Preparations have already been made for a general resumption of work in the mills to-morrow.
Sir Amos Nelson, a prominent figure in the textile trade, expresses tha view that the industry's opportunities at present are brighter than they have been for a long time past. Marked improvement. he added, was shown in the general inquiries from abroad for Lancashire cotton and artificial silk goods.
