Reports from Harbin, confirmed by Tokyo, indicate an alarming state of affairs along the trans-Siberian railway. The capture of Manchuli, the border station in Siberia and Manchuria, by the anti-Manchukuo troops and the seizure of the station and rolling stock are causing complete dislocation of through traffic. A considerable force descended on the town, creating a temporary reign of terror. Though the fate of foreigners is unknown, there have been large casualties among the native population. Anti-Manchukuo troops are firing on passing trains, rendering travel dangerous. It Is reported that they also Intend massacreing all Japanese in the Manchuli and Hailar districts, as a reprisal for the Japanese seizure of Manchuria. The announcement is creating the gravest apprehension, while the activities of Chinese volunteer corps, operating in Manchuria, are causing the Manchukuo authorities endless anxiety.
