WHEAT FOR CHINA

AMERICAN CHALLENGE TO CANADIAN MARKET.

United Press Association— By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received Sept. 28, 7.0 p.m.) OTTAWA, Sept, 27

The Government Spokesman states that there is no intention to extend credits to China to buy Canadian wheat. The proposal has been left with the Wheat Pools. The United States’ efforts to sell wheat to the Orient on a credit basis, is seriously hindering Canadian sales. Grain dealers assert that Canada has always supplied wheat almost to meet all the Chinese October and November needs.

This year Washington is endeavouring to divert the trade through credit. The Chinese, it is declared here, will be quite able to buy for cash. Shipments to the Orient from Canada in the next two months, are expected to exceed 3,000,000 bushels. Seven cargoes are already arranged.
