HIGHER FEES.

LICENSES FOR SPORTS GROUND. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, August 22. Authority was granted by the City Council last night for the amendment of the by-laws to provide for annual license fees for sports grounds accommodating iO,OOO persons, and under 20,000 to be increased from £2 2/- to £2O and those holding 20,000 or over to £3O per annum. It was explained that the increases were necessitated by the tremendous amount of extra work involved in regulating large crowds, towards the costs of which the Council received no thing from the sports bodies.
