LOCUST PLAGUE.
CULTIVATED AREA ATTACKED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 5, 5.5 p.m.) CAIRO, April 5. Twelve-mile-long swarms of hungry flying red locusts penetrated the Government defences in the Sinai desert, crossed the Suez Canal, and settled on the cultivated area near Ismalia. The Government is despatching 140 flames throwers and 200 tons of liquid destroyer.
