Approximately there are 40 competitors in the cornet solo, B and E flat, which is still proceeding. In the tenor horn section, the judge said the solo “In My Cottage” was worn out, and he would like to have judged something more educational. The tenor horn was now one of the star instruments in the band, and he wished the solo test had been a piece which would have better enabled players to show every capability of the instrument.
