Mellon (Secretary to the Treasury), replying to the. Princeton war debt statement, denied that the ?aynients by the Allies will impose a ax burden upon them. The reopening of settlements would cause discord and confusion. He concluded by /saying that if the amounts of the commitments were reduced, with a proportionate reduction, of the German reparations, the burden would be transferred to the American taxpayer.
