OVERTIME STRIKE COLLAPSING,
COURT’S ORDERS bBEYED,

It is stated that the Newcastle branch of the Coal Trimmers’ Union has received instructions td abandon the overtime strike. ,It is believed that these orders will be carried into effect to-day.

AFTERMATH OF ELECTION RESULTS.

The strangest strike known occurred in the Transport Workers’ Union. Ninety organisers and officials downed pens as a protest against the Executive’s refusal to reinstate Mr H. Gosling, ex-Minister of Transport, the executive pleading that on the grounds of economy it had been decided to abolish the post. The strikers allege that personal motives inspired the decision, and recall that there lias tseen ill-feeling between Mr Gosling and Mr Beviii since the unofficial dock strike in 1923. The Executive had a secret confereiice with the strikers, lasting all day. Mr Gosiing is in bed owing to a breakdown due to his election exertions;
