MEXICAN MURDERS.
AFTERMATH OF EVANS OUTRAGE.

Prominent features in the evident*.on behalf of the British community were letters Mrs Evans left, declaring her belief that the Agraristas intended to assassinate her. Government officials submitted testimony which convinced the Judge that the Agraristas had nothing to do with the crime, which was committed for robbery by two peasants, who finally confessed to the crime.
The representatives of Mrs Evans's family are not convinced by their confession.
[Mrs Evans was tlie widow of a former president of tlie .Bank of Loudon in Mexico. After . her husband's death she supported herself on her ranch,, despite constant harassment by tlie Mexican Government. Her pei sedition, itnd the consequent protests to the authorities from Mr Herbert Cummins, British Charge ' d’Affaires, was reported to be largely responsible for the, diplomatic breach as a result of which Hr Cummins was withdrawn front Mexico. The murder occurred after his return to England.]
