CONCESSIONS TO A.S.R.S

WELLINGTON, July 2. The members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants have boon granted soveral improvements in working conditions since the strike, this be ing the result of the negotiations with the Department. The restrictions on children’s privilege tickets liavo been completely emoved, and guards havo been granted two hours standing time at home stations when not off eight hours between shifts. Travelling time is being paid to gangers and to surfacemen when taken off their usual length !o do work elsewhere. Leading line erectors will receive the same payment as leading signal erectors, which means an increase of Is 6d per day. The pro visions of regulation 7G regarding light allowance are being extended ,to line gangers, which improves their position in this respect.
