"ROSE OF THE CABARET"
IN BAY PAVILION. The Ballarat concert party, which has been touring the district "with, the tevue "Rose of the Cabaret," brought their itinery to a close last night bv a performance in the Bay Pavilion. The attendance was disappointing, 'out the proximity of the bazaar, no doubt, W as the cause, and tho audience mighthave been more encouraging with their appreciation. The performers must be credited with doing their best to amuse and entertain, and in many respects thi-y succeeded in this ambition. The production is hased on an original spy comedy, but the story is more or lesa subsidiary to a wide variety of entertaining numbers. The dramatis personal? were Miss Tui James (substitute, for Miss Flora. Www us the Cabaret dancer). Miss L. Sutherland (a, ioreign spy), Messrs E. Blackmur (journalist), G. Chinncry (wenlthv clubman), H. Williams (cabaret manager"), C. Cumiilpri (spy waiter), T. I*l mb (detective;, and G. Griffiths (barman), v.hil" a bevy of fashiona'oly dressed ladies and gentlemen patrons supported the east. The principals played their respective parts well, and what was lacking in professional finish was more than made up for in earnest endeavour. Diverting and highly entertaining side lines were supplied 'by the Camllleris, acrobatic, and gymnastic specialists, assisted by Mr E. Blackmur, Mr G Griffiths, conjuring expert, Messrs N. Radeliffe, R. Holdgate, H. Williams. E. Blackmur, Misses Home, Ross, C'aniiilen, Mona Wallace, and Connie Potts vocal items. Mr L. Collins, gave several comedy sketches which were features of the programme, while tho dancing of the juvenile performers, Misse s Comiie Potts, Tui James, Mirvis Broad, and Rita Miliar, was a very popular phase of the entertainment I'll© chorus singing was gleeful and vigorous, but the company was handicapped through want of scene shifting lacihties. Mr Havelock Williams is to credited on the success of the production, while the work of Mr F. J. Hyde, musical director, and Mr S. Winterbourn, electrician, also deserves mention. , i
