MARRIED RESERVISTS. FIRST DIVISION MEN. /The following letter has been received by Mr L. M. Isitt, M!P., from S'-r James Allen, Minister or "Defence:— "In further reply :co your letter of the 2nd instant with reference to the position of married men who belong to iche First Division of the Reserve, I have to say tliat the Recruiting Board has considered the suggestion that Idle Military Service Boards should be asked to regard all those who previously enlisted and wore rejected before marrying as belonging !do the Second Di- i vision of the Reserve. After full consideration it was decided not to interfere in the matter, 'the opinion being that, as the Military Service Boards have full _ discretionary power, if in their opinion (die merits of any case warrant it, to adjourn th'e calling up of the reservist either sine die or until liis equivalent clascs in the Second Division of the Reserve is being balloted for, it would be better to leave the Boards to decide each appeal on the facts disclosed at the heaving." ENLISTMENTS. The following enlistments were received at the Defence Office, Timaru, yesterday: — Bartrum, 0. 8., farmer, Fairlie, married. McGregor, J. G., farmer, Fairlie, single. Ray, W. G., assistant, Timaru, single. RETURNED FROM SAMOA". (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 26. 'Among the passengers from Samoa by the last island steamer were 17 soldiers, 15 on furlough, one returned for duty and one medically unfit. The names are: —Sergeant Wordropn (in charge'), Sergeants O'Dwyer, Fisher rnd McCarthy, Corporal Russell, Pri-•r-itos Godfrey. LW T d, Robinson. McKenzie, Kerr, Sumner, Atkinson, Ross, Lang, Smith, Nolan and Grogan.
