THE S.S. ROTORUA: . IN THE ENGLISH CHANNEL. (Per Press Association.) CHMSTCmjIICH, March 2G. The manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received a cablegram stating that the steamer Rotorua landed ail her passengers at Plymouth and while she was proceeding up the English Channel she was torpedoed- . Captain Sutcliffe and all the crow were saved, with the exception of one 'cook. T"he Rotorua. was a triple sci'ew steel steamer df 11,130 tons gross, 7094 jtons net. She was built in 1910 by Denny Bros., Dumbarton, and her dimensions were: Length 454.2 feet, width 62 3 feet, depth 41.1 feet. She left AYel-' lington for London on January 25 with a cargo of frozen, meat and produce, and had on board a number of passengers, who included a fair proportion of women and children. The Rotorua was well known in New Zealand waters, and her last trip was her sixteenth between New Zealand and England.
