Ho intimated that these amounts arc now available, and asked the' Board to submit proposals for the expenditure thereof- on the construction o.r maintenance of roads and bridges, leading to or opening up the sect-ions referred to, or, if required, upon the construction cf water supply works for the benefit- thereof. Another letter from the Commissioner notified that the Board had approved of the expenditure of "thirds'' amounting to £37 -55,; from run 102. i- - '■■:-■■: ; ---v ■ The Clerk of Works reported tthat ihe wbik for- the month had consisted of shingling the Maj.ii road Jind the Cross road at PeeL Forest, putting p'pes in the Arundel road, and putting shingle -, at Mr Evans's gate. Mr R.charcls started his contract for shingling en June 23, and had done about 40 chains. Ho was using up some of the metal where the - road was yet low. 'Hie roads wouk'd be all the better if they were rolled when th? shingling was finished. The footbridge near Mr Dunn's, Scotshurn road, was done and a bridge like the one put in at Mr Tripp's would suit best here. He had sold the old horse to Mr C. Lewis for £1 los, <ind it would have a good home. He asked if the Council was buying birds' heads and eggs. The Board resolved that a bridge be erected near Mr Dunn's residence, .as suggested. -It was stated that small, birds were very numerous and doing much more harm than good; the hope being ex-

pressed that the County Ccimc-1 would buy heads and eggs. The Tliarrnum said thnt at present the Council was giving away poisoned grain. It was resolved that the noxt meeting of the Board bo held on August 21st. Accounts were passed amounting to £lB6 3s Od. and the .Board adjourned.
