Holders of wheat are holding off at present by reason of the confident feeling which exists among those best qualified to form an opinion that before very long there will be an increase in values. The few lines lately on offer were mostly of inferior quality, and the prices they commanded are no criterion of valves. Tuscan has been sold during the week at 3s ajul 3s 6d, ;country stations. Tin so were lines of inferior quality, and were wanted for .shipment. Velvet and Red Chaff, are. most in demand., and any good lines offering can be readily disposed of. Good Tuscan is worth 3s M to 3s 9d. Rod Chaff 3s lOd to 3s lid, and Velvet 4s to -is Id (the latter for extra prime parcels) ' a!! delivered Timaru. The oat market shows a _ slightly, better tendency owing to th's cereal being firmi-r at Home, and the reduction in freights from 25s to 20s is inducing some shipping business.
