tXUNLOP RELAY RACE. SOUTH CANTERBUR TEAM. The first attempt in New Zealand to secure-one of the prizes .offered by the Dunlop Company, tor a hundred miles relay ride by ten men, will be made on Thursday by a team representing, the Soutli Canterbury Centre of the and Cycling Union. The contest is open to teams from any club or centre in Australasia, and the Coburg Cycling Club (Victoria) is at present leading for the first prize, with the fine time of 4hrs 2Smin 13 2-5 sec. The ride is an unpaced one,-each man doing ten miles, five out and five home, and in addition to the main of ©very team- which covers-tk,e.'loo.-:mil'es.in : five hours will receive. aVhahdsome medallion. The course settled for Thursday is on tiKj. Point road, the' starting •■ and finishingpoint being near the Junction of the Temuka, and Point roads at Wasfcdyke.' The first ridsr will be sent away at 1 p.m. sharp. All*arrangements "have been completed, *' and officials a\)pointed. Among the officials will be two course stewards, who will patrol the road to assist in keeiMng the course as clear; as possible, and drivers of vehicles are appealed to to assist the cyclists as far as possible in this direction. The team has not been finally selected, but '-with ordinary luck is expected to"put up a creditable •performance. The ten men will bo 3-epresentative of all parts of the South Canterbury district: Ashburton will probably send down "W. Jary and TV.' Brown, Waimate R. E. Forrester, F. and A. Averis, and the quota for the central part of the district will come from G. V, Tozer, E. M. Tozer, A.. Eraser,- W. L. Henry, H. Sutton, C. O'Connor, P. Tuttv, and J. R. Wigg.
