Saturday Victoria had three wickets down for 75, Warce not out. Schwartz and Vogler opened the bowling; both were accurate and the scoring was slow but steady, and the bowling was Changed. Warns played chanceless for two hours and a, ljfltlf, scoring six fours. —4 for 143. Kortlang gave a sound exhibition of batt.ng, after a scratchy opening. Armstrong was uncomfortable at the googlies. Matthews gave the best exhibition of the match. He began doubtfully, but warmed to his work, and hit well all round. He was batting 55 minutes. Vogler shaved Matthews' and Hazlitt's wickets repeatedly early in their innings. The latter played him with confidence. Faulkner and Schwartz were easy; Vogler decidedly the best bowler. The visitors' fielding was frequently slack. Sherwell kept wicket splendidly.
