A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING. Press Association—Bv Tel.—Copyright. VIENNA, Ooi. 9. The Austrian police have arrested a monk named Marock on a charge of murdering his brother and eloping with Ins widow. Marock committed a robbery on October 24th last year and was afraid his brother would denounce him.
PLOT AGAINST MR TAFT. NEW YORK, Oct. 9. A stranger called at the house of President Taf't's aunt and gave warning of a plot against the President's life. He threatened to kill the aunt if she informed the police of his visit. A MURDEROUS COOK. BRISBANE, Oct. 10. A shearers' cook ran amok at Langlo crossing. He stopped a buggy containing a number of his mates and fired a gun twice. One charge entered the body of Joe Delaney, and the other missed. Delaney was taken to the hospital. The shooter disappeared in the bush.
JACK OF ALL TRADES. SYDNEY, Oct. 10. " Dr " Searby, a no-license lecturer, has been arrested on a charge of forgery, under a warrant issued in New Zealand in January, 1909. [A doctor named Searby endeavoured to establish a practice in Timaru some time ago, and was afterwards punished for practising without qualification.] A BLACKFELLOW'S FEUD. PERTH, Oct. 10. Six blacks have been committed for trial in connection with the Laverton massacre. It is stated that the murders were the result of a vendetta which had extended over three years, during which time many natives were murdered. The Laverton tribe is now on the warpath. THE WEsFcOAST JEWELLERY THEFTS. J Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, Oct 10. A* tlle Magistrate's Court to-day, William Jack, Alfred Prior, and William Newton were charged with committing a robbery at Lloyd's jewellery establishment on September 23rd. i good deal of evidence was taken. Prior pleaded guilty, Jack and Newton not , guilty. Pnor was ordered to come up tor sentence on November 12th. and Jack and Newton were committed for trial at the same time.
