Sir Rufus Isaacs, Solicitor-General, becomes At-torney-General, and Mr J. A. Simon, K.C., M.P. for AValtharnstow, succeeds Sir Rufus Isaacs. FREETRADE IN DANGER. Lord George Hamilton, in a letter resigning his membership of the City Freetrade Union, declares that he is as strong a freetrader as ever, but the GoverfSnent's policy has rendered the continuance of freetrade finance and taxation impossible.

MR BALFOUR'S RETICENCE. Mr F. E. Smith, a prominent Conservative, speaking at Abingdon, said that it was the height of unreasonableness that some few Conservatives should criticise Mr Balfour for not making, during the veto conference, an aggressive and provocative political speech.
