Our Winchester, correspondent writes: An accident that' might h(tvfe*resu«ted-: in grave consequences occurred at Kitchen's corner, Winchester, about 10.30 on Monday morning. Mr H. Lee's new motor having crossed the Waihi creek, was approaching the township at a moderate pace when it was met by Mr R. Smith's dog-cart, the latter carrying, a guest of Mr Smith-and a. boy driver.\ The horse,, taking fright at the approaching motor, backed across the road, and a wheel getting into the water table and another on to a rather steep bank caused the trap to upset breaking both shafts, and some harness, which, enabled the horse to get away; the occupants' of the trap were Thrown out, the young woman receiving'but little injury, but; thV boy's thigh .suffered through being caught beneath the wheel. Help was quickly to hand, and the sufferers were taken", to Mrs Hart's house, where they received: every. attention.
