FOOTBALL.
A general meeting of the Timaru Football Club was held in the Royal Hotel, lasb night, Mr E. Penrose was a good attendance of members, and the meeting was most enthusiastic. The chairman stated that the meeting had been called to discuss the advisabi'ity of forming a< Saturday team. He showed the advantages to be' gained.". from such .a team, Mr O'Leary, captain of the Cub; also spoke in favour of the'proposal.-. It could not.be expected that a competition, would be offered this year, but' as the team thrived that would come in time. He pointed „out, the advantages to those "who got their hol_i : day on the Saturday, they could put in .some good practice, and should they : be" picked to represent the Thursday teams they would feel, all the better for their Saturday play." Several others Spoke in fav T our of the proposal. It was moved that a Saturday team be formed, and that Messrs Sea'ey. Fraser, Wilson, and Sugrua be appointed fo canvass for members. The proposal was carried • unanimously. About 15 names were handed in of those who would support the team. The following were elected members of the Club:—Messrs WBerg, D..1 Sullivan. D. J. McDonald. J.-Mc-Conochie. W. Mabin. P. Sugrue, M. Randrup. H.. Randrup, H. W. Waldie, and W. T. Carlton. It was decided to arrange a match, if possible, with some foreisrn-chib at Easter. The committee had much pleasure in informing the members; of the Club that they had obtained a very suitable club room in Mr Shaw's stable, and this will be ready for vee fronr the Ist April, when they, .expect to see a ecod muster.
