THE PREMIER IN THE NORTH.
Per Press Association. HAMILTON, March 22. The Premier opened the new town hall this afternoon, and addressed a large meeting in the evening. He announced a progressive native land policy under which lands would be individualised arid- exchanged, eo as to provide'for landless .natives and MaorisEuropeans,' making-them %aris«unde'i#the terms of the advances to, settlers. .Two mil'ion acres of native land-will .then-be'avail-able for European settlement. Dealing with noxious weeds, he wa6, he said, to at once'make advances to farmers and native land owrcrs for clearing weeds or' cle-ir native lauds, and charge the owners with the cost. * Crown lands would also be beared at once. Mr Seddon also announced that the Thames- ValJey estate wa6 about to be purchased by the Government for close settlement:. - A vote of'thanks and confidence was carried by acclamation.
