FARMERS' UNION.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, March 21. At the Farmers' Union meeting to-day, the reports of Mr A. H. Wallis on Waiapu lands showed that there were 218,283 acres of native lands unoccupied in the Waiapu county, and 3700 odd acres of Crown lands in Waiapu unoccupied. Mr Wallis said that there were no natives living on these lands. Lands which the natives occupied but paid no rates for were not included in the krea mentioned. It was absolutely waste. A discussion lamenting the condition of things ensued, and it was urged that the land should be turned to account.
