POLICE COURT NEWS.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, March 22. At Port Awanui Court Piripi Huataki was charged with assault and robbery at Mangohane racecourse. The evidence was that accused went behind two other natives, knocked them down, and robbed them, one native of £27, and the other of £5. Sergeant Siddell has recovered £5 of the missing money. Accused pleaded guilty, and was remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence.

For cruelty to a horse a native was fined £lO.

George Watkins, licensee of the Tolaga Hotel, was fined £5 Is for supplying liquor to a drunken native. Notice of appeal was given.
