THE NEW HEBRIDES.
o MOVEMENT IN THE FRENCH LEGISLATURE. United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received 12.24 a.m., January 23rd. PARIS, January 22. In the Chamber of Deputies, M. Etienne said that the New Hebrides demanded the serious attention of the Government. Australia was trying to supplant France, who owned 800,00*0 hectares of land in the group. If the Government were inactive the question would become a source of worry. He suggested the abolition of convictism in New Caledonia in return for Australia making concessions in the New Hebrides. M. Delcasse said that France only asked for a maintenance of treaties.
