IN BANKRUPTCY.

A meeting of the creditors of John H. Walker, engineer, Temuka, was held at the courthouse, Temuka, yesterday afternoon.
Mr Montgomery, Deputy Official Assignee, presided, and there were present: Messrs J. Blythe, W. Priest, M. Gafianey, John Cooper, J. W. Miles, C. E. Walker, J. C. Walker, C. Bates, Reliance Tyre Company (per Mr Williams). Mr Aspinall appeared for the debtor. The debtor's statement was as follows : Liabilities—Christchurch : John Anderson, £1 12s; Booth, McDonald and Co., £2 9s 6d; W. Garrard, 15s; John Mercer, £6 5s 9d; Reliance Tyre Company, £ll 19s 2d; A. Smith and Co., £3 2s lOd; Taylor and Oakley, £4 10s; Turnbull and Jones, £2 15s. Temuka: W. G. Aspinall, £3 17s 8d; C. The debtor, in his examination, stated that during the last two years his business principally that of a cycling engineer, had fallen off* mainly through opposition. He had incurred liabilities for material, and had been sued by several creditors. Several
he had squared off, but he had been compelled to file. In reply to questions, he stated that he had paid no judgment creditor for about two months. He was not in a position to make an offer. A list of book debts was submitted. These were nearly all of small amounts, and totalled about £ls.
A brief discussion took place as to the the assets, and -Mr C. E. Walker eventually offered £25 for stock and book debts, which the assignee was recommended to accept.
On the motion of Mr Miles, seconded by Mr Bates, the debtor was recommended for immediate discharge. The mover spoke highly of the debtor's general conduct, and attributed his position to misfortune. The meeting then closed. <
