WELLINGTON STREET.
TO THE BDITOH OF THB TIMARU HERALD
Sib, —As a resident m Wellington street I was much surprised to see Mr H. J. Turner's letter m your paper. J There are certainly no cases of typhoid m Wellington street at present, but there have been five cases, and three of them not one hundred feet from Mr Turner's door. My daughter is only recovering from a bad attack, and my house is almost opposite Mr Turner's. To read Mr Turner's letter one would think Weiling street drainage perfect, and yet Mr Turner was one of those who signed the letter to the Council, complaining of the filthy state of the drainage. Would Mr Turner please explain. Mr Macintosh has been assailed rather roughly by Mr Turner, but I will leave them to settle that between them, feeling confident that Mr Turner will get all he wants before the matter is allowed to drop. If Mr Turner took one hundredth part of the trouble to verify his facts that Mr Macintosh does such a bundle of untruths as that appearing over his signature would never come from the pen of any sane man. Mr Macintosh has visited Wellington street four or five times this last month. How many of our public men take that much interest m any district they represent ? Very few I venture to assert. I am, etc., W. Baird. Wellington Street.
