RE J. RALPH.
A meeting of creditors of Josiah Ralph, late produce merchant at Christchurch, was held yesterday afternoon. The debtor's filed statements showed : —Liabilities — unsecured creditors, £90 lls 9d. Assets : book debts, £41 18s 4d, estimed to produce £30 ; surplus from securities, £46 ; total, £76. Deficiency, £14 lls lid. Unsecured creditors —G. Stumbles, £27 4s 3d; C.F.C.A., £1 5s Id; J. G. Cowan, 18s 6d ; J. Philp, £1 6s 6d ; G. E. Warburton, 14s 6d ; (the following are Ohristchurch creditors) J. Con.
nolly. £21 18s 7d ;J. Reynolds, £2 5s 6d ; Wood Bros., £9 10s : D. H. Brown. £10 : T. Weeks, £8 ; Collie Bros., £4 ; Ashby, Berg and Co., £3 10s ; total, £90 11s lid. Secured creditors —W. McKeowni Timaru, amount of debt, £206 ; estimated vajue of security, £250 ; secured by mortgage over section on Otipua road, la 3r, with 4-roomed cottage theroon. There were no creditors present. Mr Hay appeared for the bankrupt, who m reply to the Deputy Assignee said that he had been m business m Christchurch for li years as a produce merchant. He put £360 into the business and only drew £60 out. Rent and expenses were too high and very little business was done. He loajj money on bad debts, and gave up business last October. Since then had been out of employment and living m Timaru. He filed because a creditor pressed him and had- taken out a judgment summons. Had paid his solicitor £6 for stamp-duty and £2 2s. Tl^e meeting stands adjourned.
