IN BANKRUPTCY. RE WILLIAM MACKIE.

A meeting of creditors of William Maekie, baker, Fairlie, was held by the Deputy Assignee yesterday afternoon. The following were the debtor's filed statements. Liabilities:— Unsecuredcreditors, £148 .4s 9d; secured do. nil. Assets: Stock n trade £10, book debts estimated value 250, furniture £10. property— (2 horses, sart, harness, and firewood)— £33 10s; ,otal £103 10s. Deficiency, £44 4s 9d. The unsecured creditors were Belford Will £45, Timaru Milling Company £30 .6s, Aulesbrook aad Co. £20 19s, A. jabites £3, J. Jackson £3 4s, H. Bevvy S5 12s, Timaru Herald £1, Klack and Beattie £2 12s, T. Chalker £1 14s, J. Siegert £5 7s 6d, J. Young £2 10s, J. H. Wiltshire, £2 16s, W. Wreford £19 10s, Sank New South Wales £2 4s 3d, T. VlcKie £1 18s. Total £148 12s 9d. There were present at the meeting : Mr \lontgomery, assignee,presiding; Messrs Wreford, Turner (Belford Mill), and P. W. Eiby (Timaru Milling Co.). Mr Tripp ippeared as solicitor for the bankrupt. The bankrupt m his examination said that he had been m business at Fairlie for a little over two years. Started with no capital. Attributed his position to bad trade and bad debts, by the latter he meant that he could not get m the money swing to liim. He was therefore obliged to file. He could not make any offer. Had paid his solicitor £B l4s by acheque of James Shaw's, butcher, Fairlie, for Hling expenses. Mr Turner moved, and Mr Eiby seconded and it was carried, that the estate be left m the hands of the Assignee to dispose of all the assets to the best advantage.
