(By Telegraph.) AUCKLAND, June 24. Mr H. C. Jury haa announced himself as a candidate for the Newtown seat. Mr Mitchelson has definitely decided to stand for Eden in opposition to Mr Tole. Mr W. F. Buckland addressed a large number of the electors at Otahuhu last night, when a vote of thanks and confidence was carried. The meeting pledged itself to do its best to secure his return. At the meeting of the Harbour Board to-day, a letter was read from Sir Georga Grey offering the gift of a lifeboat lighter and moro suitable to the exigencies of this port than the boat now here. David Parsons was charged at the Police Court to-day with embezzlement from his employer, and was remanded, as several charges of forgery are to be preferred.
