Jereminli McCarthy wn» found guilty of setting firo to Opotiki g.iol, nnd was ordered to be confined m the lunatic asylum during the Coloninl i-V-retary's pleasure. Wellington, Oct. 11. At tho Supremo Court to-day Charles Hodgson was charged with embezzling the »nni3 of £33 -Is and £30 4s, belonging to the Union Bank, m which institution accused had been engaged ns bill clerk. The jury retarnod a verdict of not guilty. Tho second charge against the prisoner will bo taken tomorrow.
