There was a large attendance to.day and somo capital racing. wood lying next, Linwood third, and Moody last. The quartette went nearly a mile m this order, a clear gap separating one from the other, but Moody then baulked and lost a, lot of ground. At about a mile and a half Donald fell, and Moody again baulking left Ravenswood and Linwood to go oa together. At two miles Moody, who had got over his fences, came with a great rush and actually headed Ravenswood and Linwood for a few strides, whilst additional interest was infused into the race through Donuld unexpectedly putting m an appearance a quarter of a mile behind the others, he having been caught and remounted. At the last half-mile Ravenswood resumed the lead, but before the run home was reached Linwood showed m front, aud Moody coming with another rush there was every prospect of a good finish. Ravenswood, however, was now let out, cleared away from them m the run home and won by half a dozen lengths. Some people considered Linwood could have won if it had been so desired. Dividend— £2 Is. At the half mile Lady Gertrude had shot her bolt, and she fell back rapidly, Tiger Tim and Cheap Jack then taking up the running. Derritt was, however, coming up fast on Russley, and when fairly m the straight the colt quickly got on terms with the leaders, and settling them at the turn won with a bit m hand by three-quarters of a length from Tiger Tim, while Cheap Jack was only a fair third a head m front of Lady Gertrude. ' Leon hung at the post when the flag fell. The running was out out by Minerva, Sou-wester, and Captain Webster, and by the time the Stand was reached they had settled down. Minerva and Captain Webster were running on together m the van, a clear length ahead of Nelson, at whose heels came Lady Evelyn, while Leon brought up the rear. Minerva still held the lead round the turn to the back of the course, but at the half-mile post first Captain Webster and then Nelson passed her, and Major George's colt, a few strides further on, took a strong lead. Nearing the straight Sou'wester and July, who had been gradually working their way up from the rear division, made their effort, and passing Captain Webster went on m pursuit of Nelson. The last named, however, held his own, and staving off the challenge of both he won a very fine race by half a length from Sou-wester, July being beaten for second place by only three quarters of a length.
